MUTEC is the international trade fair for museum and exhibition technology: showcases, lighting, media installations, storage and security systems, exhibition design and museum retail. Your customers are museums, archives, libraries and science centres. We photograph glass, light and screens so curators and administrative directors recognise quality — on two days that come around every two years.

The core product at MUTEC is the showcase — and a showcase is photographically the hardest thing a stand can show: anti-reflective glass that still catches every hall light, frames in black or stainless steel, and an interior that is often darker than its surroundings. We work with a polariser, choose our position against the hall lighting and, where needed, add a small continuous light inside. The result shows the showcase with contents, climate control and locking — not the reflection of the neighbouring stands.
Museum luminaires we photograph switched on over a sample surface, exposed for the beam, so colour rendering and beam angle stay readable. Storage systems, mobile shelving and transport crates we show open and closed.
Media stations, projections and interactive tables are what distinguishes a museum from a showcase today — and in photos often just a dark screen. We match the shutter speed to the refresh rate, photograph the interaction with a hand or a visitor in the frame and film the installation in motion: a 30-second clip that shows your customer on the cultural committee what they are getting.
Exhibition designers and scenographers get their stand photographed as a space — perspectives, materials, lighting mood — plus portraits of the team that will later work with the museum.
MUTEC has only two days. Thursday is opening day and brings the most professional visitors from museums and institutions, often combined with the opening of denkmal. We recommend a four-hour or full-day package on Thursday: the hour before opening for showcases and luminaires, then conversations, media installation and interviews. Friday is quieter and suits team portraits.
Since the next MUTEC is not until 2028, this material is your current show documentation for two years. Images are delivered within 24 hours, the clip on the evening of the shoot.
