Medical practice video in Germany: trust before the first appointment

Patients search for their doctor online before they call. A 60-second practice video shows what your practice looks like, who works there and how you talk to people. Pixer produces image films for medical practices, dental practices, clinics and medical centres in Essen, Düsseldorf, Cologne and across Germany, shot around consultation hours, with written consent from everyone on camera, edited in-house. Fixed packages from €1,990 plus VAT.

Why a medical practice needs an image film

Nobody picks a new doctor from a phone book any more. Patients read reviews, open the Google Business Profile, click through to the website and decide within seconds whether to book or keep searching. A medical practice video answers the questions no text can answer in that time: what the rooms look like, how the doctor speaks, how the reception feels, whether this is a place for me. Trust is built before the first appointment, and that is exactly where a searcher becomes a patient.

The film runs everywhere patients find you: as the hero video at the top of the practice website, in the Google Business Profile, in the Doctolib or Jameda listing, on Instagram and Facebook, on the waiting-room screen and in the appointment confirmation e-mail. Vertical cuts for Reels and Stories come from the same shoot day. One production gives the practice two to three years of moving images without anyone on the team having to become a content manager.

The second reason is staff. Medical assistants, dental nurses, physiotherapists and care staff choose their employer today, not the other way round. A team film in which colleagues describe their own working day carries more weight on a careers page and in a job advert than any list of benefits. It is usually shot on the same day as the practice portrait, because rooms, light and team are already in place.

Who we work for: dental practices and orthodontists, aesthetic medicine and dermatology, orthopaedics and surgery, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, private clinics and day clinics, medical centres with several specialities, veterinary practices, and international doctors who have opened a practice in Germany and need a film that works in English and German. The process is similar everywhere; what differs is the rooms, the equipment and how much the film needs to explain rather than simply show.

Practice portrait for VIVA DERM in Essen-Rüttenscheid

VIVA DERM is a private practice for aesthetic medicine in Essen-Rüttenscheid, run by specialist Dr. Katayoun Mostaghimi. Pixer produced the 54-second practice portrait „Lern mich kennen“ (Get to know me) for the practice, and also built and maintains the practice website www.vivaderm.de: concept, copy and ongoing support. The video loads on click.

Practice portrait · VIVA DERM, Essen-Rüttenscheid · 54 seconds

We shot on one morning outside consultation hours with two people and one cinema camera. The film has four layers: an interview in which the doctor answers our questions freely, footage of the treatment rooms and reception, treatment scenes with a patient who gave written consent beforehand, and details of hands, instruments and materials that give the edit its rhythm. No script, no voice-over, no stock footage.

We delivered the 54-second landscape version as the hero video for the homepage plus vertical cuts for Instagram, subtitled so the film works without sound. Because Pixer also designed, wrote and maintains the website, video, copy and imagery fit together: the photos from the shoot day are the photos on the website.

More films and photos from real projects under Recent work. VIVA DERM is our reference in the medical field; we never quote patient numbers or results.

How a shoot in a medical practice works without disrupting consultation hours

A practice shoot takes half a day. The crew is two to three people with a cinema camera, our own light and wireless audio; we need no set-up that blocks corridors or rooms. The date goes where the practice has room to breathe: early in the morning before the first patient, in the afternoon after consultation hours, or on a Saturday. If the practice needs to stay open, we shoot in the gaps between appointments, move from room to room according to your plan and leave every room exactly as we found it.

You receive a question list in advance. There is no script and no teleprompter: the doctor answers questions about the practice, the team and their way of working in conversation, and we cut the film from those answers. It takes 20 to 30 minutes and looks far more natural than a memorised text. Before the day we agree which rooms may be shown and which may not, and we follow your hygiene rules: gowns or shoe covers if you wish, no equipment on treatment surfaces, no entry to sterile areas.

Patients are never filmed without written consent. For treatment scenes we work with a model or with a patient who has deliberately chosen to take part; staff members also sign a consent form, which we bring to the shoot. Screens with patient data, files, appointment books and name tags in the waiting room stay out of frame. Raw footage sits on our own systems and is deleted after the project on request. The film stays compatible with the GDPR, and you keep control of who appears in it.

After the shoot we deliver in 5 to 10 working days, depending on the package. You review a preview via link, comment with timestamps, and we apply the changes within the agreed revision rounds. Subtitles come in German and English, so the film works on Instagram without sound and international patients understand it. Every film comes in two formats: 16:9 for website, Google profile and waiting room, 9:16 for Reels, Stories and TikTok. Usage rights are unlimited.

Which practice videos you can order and which package fits

Practice portrait, 60 seconds. The doctor introduces the practice: rooms, team, specialities, attitude towards patients. The format for the homepage, the Google Business Profile and the first impression. Half a shoot day is enough; the matching package is Corporate Basic.

Team and recruiting film. Colleagues talk about their working day, training, hours and how the team works together. For the careers page, job adverts and LinkedIn. We usually shoot it on the same day as the portrait; together that makes a full shoot day, so Corporate Professional. More on the format under Recruiting video.

Treatment explainer. The doctor explains factually how a treatment works: what happens at the first appointment, how a professional cleaning, an aligner therapy or a wrinkle treatment is prepared, which questions patients should ask beforehand. No promises of results, no before-and-after pictures, just clear information in plain language. Several explainers on one shoot day are common; Corporate Professional or Premium depending on the number.

Patient testimonial. A patient describes their experience with the practice, with written consent and in line with the professional advertising rules that apply to your speciality. Structure and prices follow our Testimonial video.

Walk-through. A calm camera move through reception, waiting room and treatment rooms, 30 to 60 seconds, no interview. For website and Google profile, often added to the portrait on the same shoot day.

Clinic or medical centre with several locations. Several sites, several specialities, one consistent look: two shoot days with concept, script and voice-over in Corporate Premium, or the brand film from €9,900 for larger groups.

Within North Rhine-Westphalia travel is included in every package, with no mileage and no set-up time on the invoice. Our German-language city pages cover Essen, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Dortmund and the Ruhr area.

We also film practices and clinics in other German states, from Frankfurt and Hamburg to Berlin and Munich. Every quote comes in English, and non-EU companies are invoiced without German VAT.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about medical practice videos

What does a medical practice video cost in Germany?

A practice portrait with half a shoot day costs €1,990 plus VAT (Corporate Basic). If a team film or explainer videos are added, Corporate Professional with a full shoot day at €2,990 fits. Clinics and medical centres with several locations are filmed in two days for €4,990 or as a brand film from €9,900. Vertical clips, subtitles and unlimited usage rights are included in every package, as is travel within NRW.

How long does the shoot take, and does the practice have to close?

Half a day, usually four hours. The practice does not have to close: we shoot early in the morning, after consultation hours, on a Saturday or in the gaps between appointments. The crew is two to three people and needs no set-up that blocks rooms.

Can patients appear in the film?

Only with written consent, which we bring to the shoot. For treatment scenes we work with a model or with a patient who has deliberately chosen to take part. Waiting room and reception are filmed without patients or so that nobody is recognisable. Screens with patient data always stay out of frame.

What about advertising rules for doctors in Germany?

Doctors, dentists and clinics in Germany are bound by professional codes and the Heilmittelwerbegesetz (health advertising act). We keep the presentation factual: the film shows the practice, the team and the way you work and explains procedures, without promises of results, without comparisons and without before-and-after pictures. What is permitted in your speciality is a question for your chamber or adviser; we implement those requirements in the edit.

Which usage rights does the practice receive?

Unlimited usage rights for website, Google Business Profile, Doctolib, social media, waiting room, adverts and job postings, with no time or territorial limit. Raw footage is available on request.

Are subtitles included, and in which languages?

Yes. Subtitles in German or English are included in Corporate Basic, both languages from Corporate Professional. Arabic and Persian are available in addition, which makes sense for practices with international patients. Subtitles also make sure the film is understood on Instagram without sound.

Can you build the practice website as well?

Yes. For VIVA DERM in Essen the website concept, copy and ongoing support also come from Pixer. When video, photos and website come from one team, imagery and message match, and the film sits in the right place on the page. The website is quoted separately.

We are a clinic with several locations. How does that work?

We plan the shoot days as one tour and work with the same crew so that every site gets the same visual language. Two locations fit into Corporate Premium with two shoot days; from three locations or several film versions we quote the brand film from €9,900. Outside NRW, travel is charged once per tour.
