Fahrrad Essen is the largest bicycle show in North Rhine-Westphalia: around 230 exhibitors on 21,000 square metres in halls 4 and 5, manufacturers, dealers and cycle tourism providers, plus in 2027 for the first time a special area of around 1,000 square metres for special bikes. A bicycle is thin, glossy and full of black parts — we photograph it so frame shape, drive and paint are visible, and film it where it belongs: in motion.

A bicycle is a few centimetres of tubing in front of a lot of background. Under hall lighting black cranks, tyres and motors merge into one dark lump while the paint reflects every ceiling light. We set the bike up against a calm background, add our own light from the side so tube profiles and welds gain contour, and use a polarising filter against the reflections. Details such as mid-drive motor, display, in-tube battery or belt drive are photographed individually — these are the pictures buyers search for online.
Different rules apply in the special area for special bikes: recumbents, trikes and velomobiles are low and long. We bring the camera down to seat height and photograph with a rider so proportion and seating position make sense.
A bike standing still is a product photo. A bike in motion is a video that gets shared. If your stand (booth) has a test track or trial ride area, we film riders at high frame rate, panning and in slow motion, and cut vertical clips that can go online on the show day. For cycle tour operators and regions we record short statements from advisers with radio mics — the route they recommend to every beginner.
Thursday is the quietest day: the stand is freshly built, the bikes stand clean and we have space for cut-outs and details. From Saturday halls 4 and 5 are full, and with Reise + Camping running alongside the whole venue is moving — those are the pictures of consultation, test sitting and proof that your brand pulls a crowd. A four-hour package on Thursday covers product shots; if you also want the crowds, book a full Saturday with product shots in the hour before opening.
